Best soccer advice you ever got?
Soccer is a simple game that we tend to over-complicate. It is a player's game, so we need to develop players who are independent and can think and execute on their own without interference. Coach and teach with empathy, enthusiasm and empowerment.
Best experience(s) as a coach at the Stanford Soccer Club?
Having the privilege of coaching the Stanford Lightning girls team from 2005 to 2012. I was fortunate to start with them as U9s and coached them all the way to U17. During that time, I grew as a coach and teacher as they grew from excitable little girls to thoughtful and poised young adults.

Best experience(s) as a coach at the Stanford Soccer Club?
I began coaching with Stanford SC in November 2011 when I took a U12 girls team. They were not shy in telling me they did not have the success they wanted in the league and tournaments, but I knew with hard work and belief that would change. In a single season, the girls won the league, were crowned Palo Alto Tall Trees Tournament champions and runners up at District Cup! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a group of players start believing in themselves and in what they can achieve.

I believe strongly that as a coach I have a great opportunity to not only teach the aspects of the game but to help instill a lifelong passion and love for the sport.
A good coach understands that respect is to be earned and understands that they do not control the team, they are part of the team.
Do more for others then you do for your self!
